BC Wildfire Update: Little Fort Complex, July 19, 2017 1100

Summary: The Little Fort Complex wildfires continue to be active and out of control. While cooler weather and lower winds over the last two days allowed crews to make gains in containing Thuya Road and Dunn Lake fires, active hot spots still flare up during peak burning periods. For the safety of the public and crews, evacuation alerts and orders remain in place.

Total resources: The Little Fort Complex has over 265 fire-fighting personnel, 11 helicopters, 19 pieces of heavy equipment, structural protection units and air tankers, as needed.

DUNN LAKE FIRE (K20706)
Fire Size: 3,035 hectares (estimated)
Status: Out of Control, 30% contained
Progress + Objectives: Crew will continue to protect struc-tures at Dunn Lake and Auldgirth roads, enforce guard lines using heavy equipment and extinguish spot fires on the south, east and north flanks of the fire.

THUYA ROAD FIRE (K20675)
Fire Size: 556 hectares (estimated)
Status: Out of Control; 80 % contained
Progress + Objectives: Progress continues to be made on control lines. Protection of the highway and transmission lines remain a priority.
