Clearwater has a diversified economy through forestry, tourism, retail and agriculture, with tourism experiencing growth as travelers from around the world continue to come for the wilderness experience.
Clearwater offers a safe and peaceful environment that includes all the amenities of a sustainable community such as: education, health care, recreation and culture. Education is available from kindergarten to Grade 12 with post-secondary opportunities available through distance education by Thompson Rivers University. The community has its own hospital and medical clinic which services the surrounding area. Emergency services include a vibrant Volunteer Fire Department, an RCMP detachment, BC Ambulance Service, Search and Rescue operation and Emergency Social Services.
Recreational opportunities are abound either outdoors or indoors. Current infrastructure, which includes an extensive water system and a sewage lagoon, is capable of serving an ever-increasing population. Other services include financial, legal, realty offices, and over 300 local businesses.
