Council Adopts 2017 Annual Tax Rates Bylaw

At a Special Meeting of Council held Thursday, May 11th, 2017, the District of Clearwater 2017 Annual Tax Rates Bylaw No. 164, 2017 was adopted, which included a 2.5% municipal tax rate increase for the 2017 Five-Year Financial Plan. Council developed the 2017 Operating Budget with the following directions to staff:

  • Maintain existing service levels for Roads, Recreation Programming, Protective Services, Transit, and Capital dollars for Parks;
  • Minimize the use of Surplus and Reserves;
  • Continue to support economic growth within the community; and
  • Maintain the District’s financial principles – for short and long term planning through prudent consideration of building Reserves and leveraging available funding sources.

Homeowners can expect to receive their 2017 Property Tax Notices in the mail at the end of May, and property taxes are due by July 4, 2017.
