The Planning Services are by contract through the Thompson Nicola Regional District who are responsible for the review and processing of development applications including rezoning and development permits, in order to ensure that development occurs in compliance with the vision of the Official Community Plan (OCP) Bylaw 1448 and Council's Policy. Based on the direction of the OCP the current Planning Division also assists the Municipality in developing and maintaining guidelines and bylaws.
The Development Services also oversees building permitting and bylaw enforcement.
Building Inspection Services and Permits
General Information The Building Inspection Division provides general information on the Building and Sign bylaws, the BC Building Code and other relevant standards. We can provide practical information on construction, plumbing, woodstove installation and other systems in buildings.
Building Permits/Inspections
A Building Permit is required when you wish to:
NOTE: A detached accessory building less than 10 m2 (107 sq ft) and 4.5 m (14 ft 9 in) in height and built on properties containing a single family dwelling is exempt from requiring a building permit, but must still meet setback requirements specified in the Zoning Bylaw.
