Fire Department

The District of Clearwater’s Volunteer Fire Department has been in operation since 1969 and is managed by Fire Chief Mike Smith. The Fire Department provides services for the protection of lives and property from fire hazards; providing a comprehensive fire prevention and suppression service and engaging in mutual aid agreements with Blackpool and Vavenby Fire Departments and reciprocal agreement with the BC Wildfire Service.

Along with providing fire suppression, the department performs fire safety inspections on all public buildings, issues burning permits, provides fire prevention public education and trains firefighters in first aid, Interior Firefighter Operations along with emergency vehicle driver training programs.
