Message from District of Clearwater Mayor John Harwood

On behalf of the District Council, I am proud to share the District’s 2015 Annual Corporate Report. This Report outlines an overview of the District’s key initiatives and accomplishments for 2015, identifies our goals for 2016, and presents the District’s audited 2015 Financial Statements.
In 2015, as with other years, Council and staff have worked diligently to accomplish strategic priorities set where we focus on fiscal responsibility, transparency, accountability, customer service and citizen engagement. We are a very progressive community with respect to planning and development.
Council’s 2015 focus was on key areas established during strategic planning sessions – infrastructure improvements, updates to key development bylaws, strengthening parks and recreation programs, strengthening social and economic development, reviewing housing strategies, and continuing to improve financial resilience.
In 2015, considerable steps were taken to engage the public by the use of surveys and public meetings, open houses, the District’s bi-monthly newsletter, our Facebook page, and the District’s website.
I want to thank community volunteers – their continued support and participation is greatly appreciated and assists in delivering services that meet the needs of our community.
The 2015 Annual Corporate Report is an opportunity to recognize the vast work that has been accomplished this past year by our staff, members of Council, residents and volunteers. All are committed to continuously finding better ways to better serve our community through programs and services.
It is a tremendous privilege to work and serve in the role of Mayor and member of Council, and we will continue to work together with staff to carry through our “Can Do” attitude.
