Municipal Ticketing Information (MTI)

Issue Ticket: Designated Bylaw Enforcement Officer may issue ticket for bylaw infraction.

Fines & Payments: Reduced fine if paid within 30 days of issuance of ticket. Fines are outlined in Bylaw schedule.

Payment instructions are available on back of ticket.

Payable in person at the District of Clearwater Front Counter with debit, cash or cheque. If paying by cheque, make payable to the District of Clearwater. If sending your cheque in the mail, enclose the following information: ticket number from the top right-hand corner of the ticket, your full name and mailing address and the date of the offence, the bylaw name and section of the offence. A receipt will not be sent back to you. Please do not mail cash.

If you do not provide sufficient details, your payment might not be credited to you and the fine may remain outstanding. By paying the fine, you will be deemed to have pled guilty to the described offence.

Dispute a ticket: Dispute within 14 days or the option will no longer be available. Dispute in person at the District of Clearwater front counter or mail a Notice of Dispute. Bring the MTI or the following information when attending the office to dispute: ticket number from the top right-hand corner of the ticket, your full name and mailing address and the date of the offence, the bylaw name and section of the offence.

Only the individual who received the ticket is eligible to submit a dispute.

Disputed tickets are referred to Provincial Court for Hearing. You will receive notice in the mail informing you of the time and location of your hearing.

Failing to respond to a ticket: Outstanding MTIs are referred to Provincial Court for consideration by a justice.

Report a bylaw infraction: Complaints must be made in writing or by using the online form. You must include your name and phone number; complaints cannot be made anonymously. Also include as much information as possible regarding your complaint. If it relates to private property (noise, garbage, unsightly property, etc.) please provide the address.
