FIRE UPDATES: 

West of Dunn Lake (K20666) and North of Dunn Lake (K20706) Kamloops Fire Centre  
Location: West and north of Dunn Lake and along Dunn Lake Road.
Status: 897 hectares COMBINED (estimated), 0% contained
Resources: There are human resources and equipment on the ground – 11FF, 1 RO, 1 helicopter, 2 heavy, 1 tender, 6 SPU personnel
Cause: Under investigation.
Objectives:  Primary objectives are to identify critical areas for sustained suppression efforts, and to locate access points for heavy equipment. Crews are laying hose line and developing guard back from the fire on the south side. Machinery will be working the west side where terrain access is less challenging and the south east area which is steep and rocky may be actioned with air tankers. Local fire departments and authorities are assisting the BC Wildfire Service with this fire.
Evacuations:  Evacuation orders and alerts are in place for Dunn Lake Road and to rail crossing on Clearwater Station Road.

 

Thuya Lake Rd. (K20675), Kamloops Fire Centre  
Location: 7 Km up Thuya Lake Road
Status: 315 hectares, 0% contained.
Cause: Under investigation.
Resources:  There are human resources and equipment on the fire – 10 firefighters, 1 RO, 2 tenders, 1 heavy, 1 helicopter
Objectives: Crews are continuing to lay guard and are working with heavy equipment to establish containment. Local fire departments and authorities are assisting the BC Wildfire Service with this fire.
Evacuations:  Evacuation orders and alerts are in place throughout the Little Fort area.

The Dunn Lake fire is estimated to be 14km south of Clearwater.

All action being taken at this time is for precautionary measure.  All agencies are working together at this time.
