The Province is providing almost $9 million to help 89 local governments and First Nations throughout British Columbia to protect homes, businesses and communities against the threat of wildfires.
In the fall of 2019, the District of Clearwater received funding through the Community Resiliency Program for the update of our Community Wildfire Plan that was done in 2012 ($35,000) and in the fall of 2019 the District applied for funding to complete Fuel Management within the municipal boundaries. The government announced this week that the District is successful in obtaining $181,000 to complete fuel management projects.
This funding program focuses on site level wildfire risk reduction planning in form of fuel management prescriptions and treatments on municipal / government sites within the community, the funds will also be used to support FireSmart awareness within the community.
