- Claim your Home Owner Grant (HOG): As per section 8(1) of the Home Owner Grant Act, eligible property owners should make sure that they have applied for their 2019 Home Owner Grant prior to January 1, 2020. Save time and gas money by applying online at www.districtofclearwater.com.
- Pay your Utility bill: District of Clearwater residents should have received their fourth quarter utility bill in the mail. The due date for payment was December 2, 2019, after which time penalties will apply. On January 1, 2020, any outstanding utility amounts owing from property owners to the District will be rolled into a taxes in arrears account. Daily interest will be accumulated at the rate prescribed by the Province of BC.
- Pay outstanding Property Taxes: On January 1, 2020, any outstanding 2019 property taxes owed to the District will become taxes in arrears, and any balance currently in taxes in arrears (unpaid 2018 property taxes) will become delinquent. Delinquent accounts will become subject to tax sale on the last Monday in September 2020. Daily interest will be accumulated on both accounts at the rate prescribed by the Province of BC.
It is possible to pay property taxes and utility bills by monthly installments, or any other installments you wish, in order to reduce the amount of the taxes owing at one time and reduce interest charges on amounts held in arrears or delinquent.
