2021-08-17 – After the precipitation last night and this morning, the situation has slightly improved. Even though the fire is still classified as out of control, the District of Clearwater is in no immediate danger. The EOC continues to operate to ensure we have everything in place should the situation change. BC Wildfire is continually monitoring the Sparks Lake Fire and information is available HERE daily.
Please take the alerts issued for Barriere and surrounding areas as a reminder to think of a plan and prepare just in case. Remember to stay informed with trusted sources of information such as the District of Clearwater, TNRD and Provincial websites only and steer clear of social media posts.
We are nearing the end of summer, but we are not out of the woods yet. Be diligent and follow the total burning ban posted for the Province, phone in new wildfires if you spot one and avoid travelling to areas affected by wildfire.
