Water Bottle Refill Stations to be installed in Clearwater

Good news on Earth Day: Water Bottle Refill Stations to be installed in Clearwater

The young residents in Clearwater have a vision for a cleaner, greener Clearwater and stepped up to make it happen. In the Spring of 2019, Junior Council advocated for a plastic bag ban and this winter Junior Council put forward a request to install water bottle filling stations at three locations in our community to reduce the amount of single use plastic bottles. To achieve their vision, Junior Council presented the idea to Council and the Clearwater Rotary Club for funding to help them pay for the stations. They have received $625 from the Rotary Club, $1,200 from the District and they have put in $625 of their own budget towards this initiative.

These water bottle fillers are an easy over a sink installation and the annual maintenance is minimal. They will be installed at Dutch Lake Beach, the Rotary Sports Park and the Dragonfly SplashPark.

We admire the focus and leadership of our Junior Council and believe that the residents and visitors of our community will appreciate this green initiative. The bottle fillers are provided free of charge and if handled respectfully, will go a long way in reducing plastic garbage. The District will maintain these fillers. Please help us keep Jr Council’s vision going by using the fillers respectfully.
