“We Will Walk for the Children” is a walk organized by Simpcw First Nation to guide the spirits of the 215 children home. In the spring, remains of 215 children who were students of the Kamloops Indian Residential School were found buried within the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc community.
The exact route of the walk is described on the poster. The 3-day event offers counselling support, a community feast and a walk in solidarity to remember the children.
Chief Loring of Simpcw First Nation extended an invitation to Mayor and Council to join the walk who are honored to participate. You may see this procession on the highway; safety precautions and COVID restriction are in place.
