This local prohibition is intended to support wildfire prevention efforts and will remain in effect until 12:00 p.m. on October 17, 2025, or until otherwise rescinded.

Prohibited Activities and Equipment

As of August 28, the following are prohibited within the District of Clearwater:

  • Category 1 Campfires (fires no larger than 0.5 metres by 0.5 metres used recreationally or ceremonially)

  • Binary exploding targets

  • Fireworks, as defined by the Fireworks Act of B.C.

  • Sky lanterns

What Remains Permitted

The use of CSA- or ULC-rated outdoor stoves is still permitted. These devices must burn charcoal briquettes, liquid fuel, or gaseous fuel, and must produce a flame under 15 cm in height. Examples include portable gas fire pits, propane BBQs, and camping stoves.
