Press Release: Clearwater Station Bridge Closure for Critical Repairs
Clearwater, BC – September 17th, 2024
The District of Clearwater wishes to inform residents of the upcoming closure of the Clearwater Station Bridge (Blue Bridge) for essential structural repairs. The bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic from October 8 to October 22, 2024 to allow the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI) and Argo Road Maintenance to replace critical structural components. Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the closure to minimize disruption to foot traffic.
We would like to emphasize that the District of Clearwater is not managing this project. MOTI and Argo Road Maintenance are responsible for the repair and closure schedule. We were only recently informed of the final closure dates and have been actively collaborating with these entities to ensure timely and accurate communication with the public.
While we recognize the inconvenience this closure may cause, particularly with the necessary detour via Dunn Lake Road, the bridge repairs are crucial to ensure long-term safety. MOTI and Argo have stressed that, due to the nature of the repairs, the full vehicle closure is unavoidable during this period.
This closure was originally scheduled to begin on October 1, but has been rescheduled to October 8 to accommodate the planned BC Hydro power outage on October 6. The project partners have adjusted the timeline to minimize the overall impact on the community.
The Little Fort Ferry will remain operational during this period, providing an alternative route for those traveling to and from the area.
Additional Transit Options for Pedestrians: The District is working with Yellowhead Community Services to arrange additional transit options for pedestrians who need to cross the bridge during the closure. More details on these services will be provided as they become available.
Public Inquiries For any questions or concerns, please contact Argo Road Maintenance directly:

The District of Clearwater acknowledges the frustration and disruption this closure may cause and appreciates the community’s patience as these critical repairs are completed.
