Help Shape Clearwater’s Future: Official Community Plan Update Underway
Clearwater, BC – The District of Clearwater is inviting residents and business owners to take part in updating the community’s Official Community Plan (OCP). The OCP is a key long-range planning document that reflects the values, aspirations, and priorities of the community, guiding decisions about land use, housing, infrastructure, and services.
As a policy framework, the OCP helps Council and staff make informed decisions about how Clearwater grows and evolves—where people live, how they move around, where jobs are located, and how natural spaces are protected.
The 2025 OCP Update will focus on ensuring that future growth is thoughtfully aligned with projected housing and infrastructure needs over the next 20 years. Recent changes to provincial legislation now require all local governments to update their OCPs by the end of 2025.
Community members are encouraged to get involved through a series of engagement opportunities beginning with a community-wide survey.
An Open House will be held in October in which the community can view the Draft Directions for the OCP update. Following community review, the draft OCP will be finalized and presented to Council for consideration in early 2026.
