National Day for Truth and Reconciliation – September 30, 2025

The District of Clearwater honours the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation by encouraging all residents to take time to reflect on the tragic legacy of residential schools, remember the children who never returned home, and honour the survivors and their families.

Several community gatherings will take place on Tuesday, September 30:

  • Simpcw First Nation Spiritual Centre (7555 Dunn Lake Road, Chu Chua)
    Begins at 11:00 a.m. with prayer, welcome and prayer song, smudging and fanning, ceremonial moccasin walk, luncheon, and closing circle. A ceremonial fire will be burning, and cultural and mental health supports will be available.

 

  • North Thompson Aboriginal Cultural Centre Society – 5th Annual Orange Shirt Day
    Held at the Dutch Lake Community Centre (209 Dutch Lake Road) from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Open house with cultural activities, including a Blanket Exercise at 2:00 p.m. and dinner at 5:00 p.m. Pre-registration is encouraged for the Blanket Exercise and other activities.

Residents are encouraged to attend, learn, and take part in these important conversations and cultural activities.

Please note: District of Clearwater offices will be closed on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
