April 4, 2025 – The District of Clearwater is excited to share the arrival of three important additions to our municipal equipment fleet:
Wood Chipper – As part of our expanded FireSmart Fuel Mitigation Program, Clearwater has acquired a tow-behind wood chipper, allowing us to safely manage woody debris during fire season when open burning is not permitted. This equipment will support safer, more efficient fuel reduction work around roadways, critical infrastructure, and private properties. The chipper was funded through the Local Government Climate Action Program (LGCAP).
Electric Ice Resurfacer – Clearwater’s new battery-electric Zamboni is now in service at the North Thompson Sportsplex. This zero-emissions machine replaces the propane Zamboni that caught fire in March 2024. It will help reduce operating costs while improving indoor air quality for arena users and staff. This investment supports our commitment to sustainable operations and healthier public facilities. The Zamboni was purchased using insurance proceeds and LGCAP funds.
Water Tender – The Clearwater Volunteer Fire Department has received a new water tender to support structural fire suppression operations across the community. This new apparatus will strengthen the department’s capacity by ensuring reliable water delivery to areas without hydrants. Tender 4 replaces the aging Tender 3, which will be repurposed for use by the Fire Department Initial Attack (FDIA) Crew. Tender 4 was purchased through Fire Department Reserve funds.
We’re grateful to our Council, staff, and funding partners for supporting these strategic investments that improve safety, sustainability, and service delivery across the District.
