District of Clearwater – Universal Water Metering Program Update

Universal Water Metering Program Update

The District of Clearwater thanks residents for their continued cooperation with the Universal Water Metering Program. More than 50% of meters have been installed, with substantial completion expected by the end of November 2026.

For Residents with Meters Already Installed or Scheduled
Thank you for your participation! If your meter is installed, your appointment is scheduled, or your property is awaiting a meter pit, no further action is required at this time.
The District is working to establish an online system allowing residents to monitor water consumption and set up potential leak alerts. Instructions will be provided when the system becomes available.

Will My Water Bill Change?
There are currently no proposed changes to water billing. Consumption data will be evaluated to support conservation, identify leaks, and guide future water system planning.

For Residents Who Have Not Yet Scheduled an Installation
Water meter installation is required under the District’s Water Utility Connection and Use Bylaw. Residents who have not yet scheduled an installation should respond by November 13, 2026.For properties where owners decline installation or do not respond, the District will proceed with installing an exterior meter pit, with additional costs charged to the property owner in accordance with the bylaw.
The District is committed to finding practical solutions for residents with installation challenges. Where an owner cooperates but an interior installation is unsuitable, the District may elect to install a meter pit at no additional cost to the owner.
