Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day – June 21, 2022
We acknowledge the ancestral, traditional and unceded territories of the Secwepemc and Simpcw nations where we live, work and play. We pay respect to the First Peoples of these territories and extend that acknowledgment and respect to all Indigenous Peoples.
We encourage you to spend time today celebrating the heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Metis peoples. The District of Clearwater is pleased to support the celebration taking place at Dutch Lake Community Centre from 2:00 – 6:00 pm.
Today we want to honour the Indigenous People of Clearwater and the North Thompson Valley. As a local government it is necessary to acknowledge the culture and recorded history of Indigenous peoples. This acknowledgement affirms our commitment to strengthening our relationships with Indigenous Peoples.
