2026 GENERAL LOCAL ELECTIONS
PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN AS FOLLOWS:
NOTICE OF NOMINATION |
Nominations for the offices of:
Mayor (1)
Councillor (6)
will be received by the Chief Election Officer or a designated person from 9:00 am September 1, 2026 to 4:00 pm September 11, 2026 as follows:

Interested persons can obtain information on the requirements and procedures for making nominations including nomination forms at the 209 Dutch Lake Road or District of Clearwater here beginning August 10, 2026.
| QUALIFICATIONS FOR OFFICE |
A person is qualified to be nominated, elected, and to hold office as a member of local government if they meet the following criteria:
- Canadian citizen;
- 18 years of age or older on general voting day October 17, 2026;
- resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months March 10, 2026 immediately before the day nomination papers are filed September 11, 2026 and
- not disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election in British Columbia or being nominated for, being elected to or holding the office, or be otherwise disqualified by law.
| CAMPAIGN PERIOD EXPENSE LIMITS |
In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2026 general local election, the following expense limits for candidates during the campaign period apply:
Mayor $12,323.78
Councillor $ 6,161.89

| THIRD PARTY ADVERTISING LIMITS |
In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2026 general local elections, the following Third Party advertising limits apply:
Third Party advertising limit is $924.28 for Clearwater; the Cumulative Third Party advertising limit is $184,856.70
