District of Clearwater, B.C.: Council appoints Leslie Groulx as Chief Elections Officer for the upcoming 2026 General Municipal Election. Groulx will be supported by CAO Byron Johnson as Deputy Chief Elections Officer.
Groulx brings experience with overseeing several local municipal government election cycles, as well as appointments as presiding election official and polling clerk for regional district elections.
The Chief Election Officer is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the election, including planning, administration, appointing elections officials in accordance with the Local Government Act, election official training and oversight, administering candidate nominations and ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, voting-day responsibilities (ballot counting/declaration of results), and standard post-election wrap-up activities.
