What’s Happening at the District of Clearwater – February 3, 2026

Clearwater Fire Department

  • Call volume has remained low.
  • Preparations are underway for an upcoming firefighter recruitment drive.

Clearwater FireSmart

  • Planning is in progress for a public screening of BC Is Burning on February 18.
  • Spring FireSmart community cleanup events are also being organized.

Public Works Update

With snow removal now caught up, Public Works is completing overdue maintenance at water and sewer stations and facilities.

Crews are salting and sanding trails and District facilities as required while taking advantage of clear roads to inspect and repair potholes and address sinkholes.

Public Works staff are also using this time to complete additional maintenance tasks and reorganize the Public Works shop to improve efficiency and operations.

Building and Development Update

The District of Clearwater continues to see strong interest in building, development, and new business activity throughout our community.

Over the past year, staff have received a steady and growing number of inquiries related to residential construction, commercial development, business start-ups, and property investment. These inquiries are coming not only from local residents looking to develop or improve their properties, but also from individuals and businesses across British Columbia, other provinces, and internationally who are exploring opportunities in Clearwater.

This level of interest reflects confidence in Clearwater as a place to live, work, invest, and do business. From home construction and renovations to new commercial ventures and tourism-related businesses, development activity is moving forward and contributing to the long-term growth and vitality of our community.

The District remains committed to guiding applicants through established processes that balance development with community planning goals, safety, and regulatory requirements. While each project is unique and timelines can vary, staff continue to work proactively with property owners, developers, and regional partners to support well-planned development.

Clearwater is growing thoughtfully and steadily, and we are encouraged by the interest and positive momentum we are seeing.

We appreciate the ongoing interest in our community and look forward to supporting projects that will help shape Clearwater’s future.

If you have questions about building and development, contact the District for assistance and guidance to get started.
