FireSmart & Fire Department Updates
FireSmart Initiatives
- Oct 24: Held a free Community Chipping Day to support local FireSmart efforts.
- Nov 3–5: Hosted a Wildfire Mitigation Specialist Course, delivered by FireSmart BC.
- Participants included:
- Several members from our hall
- 3 members from Blackpool Fire Department
- 2 members from Pritchard Fire
- 1 member from Sun Peaks Fire Department

Fire Department Operations
- Oct 29: Provided mutual aid to Vavenby Volunteer Fire Department for a fully-involved structure fire.
- Responded with a water tender and personnel as requested.
Community Engagement
- Oct 31: Hosted the annual Halloween fireworks display at the Clearwater Speedway.
- Good turnout despite the World Series taking place the same evening.
- Appreciate the continued community support through donations and attendance at events.
Clearwater Recreation, Culture & Events – Fall Drop-In Sports & Classes Update!
Our fall lineup is in full swing and there’s something for everyone to get active, have fun, and connect with the community!
Drop-In Sports
Dutch Lake Community Centre Gym
- Pickleball: Tues & Thurs 12–2 PM, Wed 6:30–8:30 PM, Fri 6:30–8:30 PM, Sun 6:30–8:30 PM
Clearwater Secondary School Gym
- Badminton: Mon & Wed 7:30–9:30 PM (cancelled November 3rd for CSS Girls Volleyball!)
- Volleyball: Tues 7–8:30 PM
- Soccer: Wed 6–7:15 PM
- Basketball: Thurs 7–8:30 PM (cancelled Nov 6th for CSS home games!)
- Youth Ball Hockey (Grades 6 +): Fri 6:30–7:45 PM – starts Nov 14! (No drop-ins on Nov 21, Dec 12, Jan 16, Feb 20 or Mar 13 – but you can come to Bingo Night instead on those dates at CSS to support grads!)
- Indoor Walking: Tues & Thurs 3:30–4:30 PM
Drop-in Badminton, Soccer, Basketball and Volleyball are open to ages 7 and older. Pickleball uses the TeamReach app (Code: Clearwater2b1) to organize games and attendance.
Classes
- Mindful Yoga with Sylvia: Mondays 5:30–6:30 PM ($10 drop-in, punch card or register online/in-person)
- Youth Aikido: Fall session classes are in full swing! Contact for more info.
- Teen & Adult Aikido: Tuesdays & Thursdays 7–8 PM ($10 drop-in, punch card or register online/in-person)
Punch Cards Available!
We’re working toward making things simpler and more convenient for everyone by moving away from cash drop-ins. Punch cards are available for both drop-in sports and drop-in classes and can be purchased at the District of Clearwater Front Desk. They’re a great way to save time and make participation even easier!

We’ve got a busy season of tournaments right around the corner — starting with our U15 tournament, November 7–9!
We’re excited to welcome teams visiting from Prince George, Richmond, Ridge Meadows, Salmon Arm, Williams Lake, and 100 Mile House.
