We are hearing you; responding to feedback from the Community Survey

You said: “We need to streamline the requests for grant process and work as a community on this rather than various organizations vying for the same grant within the community.”

Our response: The District of Clearwater has a small annual “grant in aid” budget of $5,000 for community organizations to submit a request for. The Grant in Aid Policy 2008-02 is available to not-for-profit groups to submit an application for community events, community need, etc. The grant-in-aid application is to be submitted December 1st of the year prior to the year the grant is required. This provides Council opportunity to review applications during the budget process and if more information is required to request it. Council may also request the applicant’s attendance at the January Finance & Audit Committee meeting. The policy separates grant in aid requests into four separate categories: recurring community events, community projects, special events, and permissive tax exemptions. More info here.
