The District of Clearwater is in the process of installing a chip fueled biomass heating system at Dutch Lake Community Centre. The 150 kW wood chip system will use local fibre supplied by Canfor – Vavenby Division. It is anticipated that this initial system would lead to a number of other systems being deployed within in the community at location such as the North Thompson Sportsplex. This project would not be made possible without the partnerships of Wood Waste 2 Rural Heat (business case), Wells Gray Community Forest ($100,000 interest free loan), and Canfor - Vavenby Division (free chip supply). The anticipated commissioning is for the end of July 2015. It is anticipated that the system will have a payback of 3 to 5 years.
